As the economy in South Carolina continues to slowly chug along, it is important to always be prepared for the changing demands of job seekers. The information gathered here is from a variety of resources across out state. Near the end of this blog is are different websites that citizens can use to look for employment in a variety of different employment areas. Happy Holidays and good luck!

The South Carolina Homeownership and Employment Lending Program (SC HELP)

SC HELP is intended to assist responsible borrowers - those borrowers who are facing possible foreclosure due to circumstances beyond their control, i.e. unemployment, death of a spouse, catastrophic medical expenses and/or divorce. SC HELP is NOT intended to serve borrowers who are facing foreclosure due to poor credit and/or debt management, stripping the equity from their home for non-essential purposes, or overall mismanagement of their personal budget

Additional criteria and documentation requirements must be met for final eligibility determination. Homeowners wishing to make an application should apply online at www.SCMortgageHelp.com. SC HELP officials emphasize that using the online application is the fastest and most efficient way to begin the process. Homeowners without internet access may call toll-free to 855-HELP-4-SC (855 435-7472) to begin the process.

SC Personal Pathways to Success - Provides educational and career planning resources that bring together all South Carolinians - students, parents, educators, adult job seekers, and employers.

AARP- Great information for those over the age of 50 on careers, workforce, retirement, and wanting to stay in the workforce.

The Alston Wilkes Society extends a helping hand to those who are most at-risk and helps rebuild their lives through rehabilitation and prevention services. AWS was founded to provide services to adults who were being released from federal correctional facilities, and has grown to increase our service reach to include homeless veterans, at-risk families and disadvantaged and troubled youth.

The Benefit Bank of South Carolina

This organization assists citizens with filling out various forms such as SNAP, SI, OSS,GEAP, GAPS, FASFA, Federal and State Tax returns, and voter registration.

The Bank's partner, South Carolina Office of Rural Health, is making it possible for residents to have access to much needed work supports and tax credits. Since 1991, the South Carolina Office of Rural Health has been working to improve the health status of rural and underserved people throughout the state of South Carolina. They pursue their mission through advocacy and education and through assisting providers, communities and policy makers.

I have often had the opportunity to present information on job searching throughout the state of South Carolina. One of the many questions that I come across is, " Where did you find that information for a job?". Well here is a variety of special "niche' websites that citizens can use in addition to the major players of employment web portals.
